A wide range of services are offered to women through the Jones County Health Department. Our health care professionals provide medical care, preventive services, education and support for women.

The Women’s Health Clinic provides the following services:

Family Planning

Family planning clinics are vital to the provision of reproductive health care and often serve as an entry point into the health-care system for young women and low-income people in this country. The Jones County Health Department offers contraceptive services and education that prevents unintended pregnancy, testing and treatment for sexually transmissible diseases (STDs), and other primary reproductive health care. These services can be provided confidentially.

The Family Planning program provides options for women and men to protect themselves from unwanted pregnancies. Planning for a pregnancy ensures that parents are prepared mentally, physically and emotionally to care for a child. Services are directed towards helping women and men protect themselves and their partners from unwanted pregnancies and identify conditions that affect reproductive health such as sexually transmitted diseases and breast or cervical cancer. We provide many different types of birth control including birth control pills, injections, condoms and other methods of birth control. We also provide counseling and referrals for vasectomy of males. Emergency contraception is also available.*

The Family Planning clinic offers low-cost, family planning services that would otherwise be out of reach for many women. These services are also provided confidentially to adolescents and place special emphasis on preventing unwanted pregnancies.

*Emergency contraception is not a form of birth control. It can prevent pregnancy if taken within 72 hours after intercourse.
